Jagriti Yatra

Kaustav Bhattacharya sends this open letter:

Ten years ago a young gentleman by the name of Shashank Tripathi set out
to organize a train journey around India for 200 gifted students to
commemorate 50 years of India’s independence and visit the change makers
who were defining and shaping India.

For many of the participants the
rail journey was a seminal event in their lives. A group of them have
got together to replicate the journey with a new group of young people,
up to 400 including some individuals from Africa, to mark 60 years since
independence. The new Yatra will try to reflect the issues of our times
as its context and at it’s very core the yatra strives to engender the
spirit of business and social entrepreneurship in the youth of India today.

We are hosting a fund raising event to which potential sponsors are
invited on the 16th August at the Oberoi Hotel in Mumbai in the Sunset
Lounge at 3.30 pm. The event will go on till 5.30 pm and include tea and
a presentation.

Whereas the first time around, it was very much the vision and
initiative of one person; this time there was a group, some of which had
the experience of the first journey, who wish to make the Yatra relevant
to the 21st century and create something that continues after the Yatra.
These are the ideas that will be presented on the 16th.
