Kiva Needs Businesses to Fund

Posted on Tuesday, Dec 25th 2007

This holiday season, if you are looking to make a contribution, find a micro-entrepreneur to fund through Kiva.

Kiva brings together microlenders with microentrepreneurs at 0% interest. MFI’s can access this debt capital to finance businesses in their portfolio.

Watch this video.
Or if you need someone really persuasive explain the concept to you, listen here to Bill Clinton.

However, due to all the attention the organization has received through Clinton, Oprah, and others, Kiva is maxed out. All their businesses are funded, at the moment.

So if you are networked in the Microfinance world in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Africa, Latin America or elsewhere, consider working with Kiva, and getting the entrepreneurs / businesses funded through this extraordinarily effective method.

Incidentally, there is not a single business in their portfolio from India, which I find strange.

This week, $732,000 has been loaned. 16,164 new lenders joined the network. 1,072 businesses have been funded. And 307 businesses have finished fully paying back their loans.
