1M/1M Internships: Social Media

Posted on Tuesday, Feb 21st 2012

Students, as you are gearing up to apply for summer internships, here is an overview of what 1M/1M has in store this year. Please note, we will be giving preference to those who can start right away, and will be awarding 1M/1M scholarships to those interns who complete 100 hours of successful projects, as follows:

The bulk of the internships this year will be around our work with social media. We’ve been experimenting with a high velocity Twitter channel [try it by following @sramana and @1mby1m] with 200 messages a day. Our intent is to make it as content rich as possible, and need some additional hands to do so. Your can find an overview of the strategy here.

Our blog is jam-packed with high quality content – interviews, trend analysis, stock analysis, thought leader conversations, company profiles, videos, and most recently, even a newly launched comic strip. However, all this great content needs processing to be mapped to the Twitter channel. The formats are different, and micro-blogging is a slightly different medium than straight blogging. We need your help to map the content from the blog to Twitter. We have internships available in this area.

In addition, we also have internships available in enhancing the reach of the Twitter channel itself, including influencer engagement. For example, we do extensive global marketing, and we have positions for interns to work on specific geographies – both strategy and execution – using social media mechanisms.

Each area comes with its own scope for learning. You will, most likely, be reading a lot of insightful material to craft micro-blogging content. That in itself will teach you a ton. And in the areas of channel enhancement and influencer engagement, you will learn interesting aspects of social media marketing.

To apply, please fill up your LinkedIn profile in as much detail as possible, and send your cover letter to Sramana Mitra and Ravi Bulusu.
