162nd Roundtable Recap: February 21 – Damsels In Distress

Posted on Thursday, Feb 21st 2013

Today’s roundtable had a heavy India bias.

Suraksha Helicopter Patrol
First up, Jay Kulkarni from Dubai, United Arab Emerates, pitched Suraksha Helicopter Patrol, a help line solution for women’s security in Bangalore. Jay wants to have a helicopter service that will charge Rs. 500 ($10) a month and will literally fly to the rescue of any damsel in distress. It’s an interesting idea that needs fleshing out on many dimensions, not only the finance and marketing aspects, but also operational issues like where would a helicopter land in a crowded city.

ShikshaCLUB
Then, Ram Ayyalaraju from Bangalore, India, pitched ShikshaCLUB, an online learning concept that needs tremendous fleshing out. The market is crowded, and a motherhood and apple pie idea that ranges from teaching Android app development to how to make Rubic’s Cubes simply won’t fly. Ram needs to learn ‘positioning’ ASAP.

JK InfoTech
Next, Inderbir Singh from Kolkata, India, pitched JK InfoTech Inc. Inderbir has a call-center services company with sizeable clients, and is building a Healthcare IT business as a second line of business. He wants to charge consumers a fee to both automate medical records, and also connect them with healthcare providers. Inderbir has interest from Wipro to offer the service to their employees as a benefit, and today’s discussion was about his go-to-market strategy.
