Sramana Mitra: What scale are you at now?
Carl Mazzanti: We’ve been in the middle of the pack of the Inc. 5000 fastest growing companies for the last five years. We hit $7 million in 2014 and we’re on track for revenue between $9 and $10 million this year. If we continue this for the next 15 years as we have for the last 15 years, we’ll reach $100 million in revenue.
Sramana Mitra: When you think about what you want to do with this company that you’ve created, what’s your aspiration?
Carl Mazzanti: You’re talking to someone who gets votes from our customers on a daily basis for their confidence in our ability to deliver. I would like to see our firm get to a 100 million votes on an annual basis. The next thing is I do see us expanding into more offices that are geographically close to the offices that are important for our customer base.
As our customer base grows nationally and then internationally, we are looking at putting our offices in locations that are close to where the customer is. Whether that’s an office or staff, that is to be determined. We are continuing to expand our service set so that when we are approached by a customer, we can now deliver on more of their needs. I see that continuing to occur into the future.
Sramana Mitra: What is your capital requirement to execute on this plan that you’re laying out? Is this something that you can do organically or do you need to bring in investment partners later on?
Carl Mazzanti: At 20% plus a year, we can do it organically with our own capital. We’re not looking to raise at all.
Sramana Mitra: And you want to continue growing at this steady 20% pace? You don’t particularly care to accelerate?
Carl Mazzanti: If we wanted to, we could grow much faster. We’re capable of growing much faster. The only reason to do that would be for a quicker exit.
Sramana Mitra: Is that something you desire?
Carl Mazzanti: Not right now.
Sramana Mitra: Is there anything else that you want to add to your story?
Carl Mazzanti: 60% of our revenues comes through partners and we’re really open to working with others.
Sramana Mitra: What does that mean? Others as in other people with products?
Carl Mazzanti: Other solution providers. We don’t do web design. We’re not an ERP vendor. When there’s something that our firm is not the solution expert at, we find a way to help out our customers.
Sramana Mitra: Thank you for your time.
