Martin Manniche: I also think that the most intuitive way of controlling things is not with having a Swiss Army knife of applications. How many of you don’t have a smartphone with way too many applications where 85% of them are most likely never used? The most intuitive way of controlling things is using your voice for control. I am very confident that voice control will be the driving force that will allow fast adoption of everything. Smart home or home security is not new. It’s been there for many years but it has not really grown. It’s been very stable with slow growth.
If we want massive growth, find a way that is intuitive. The most intuitive and easiest way where people are not taking out their phones or a remote control is using your voice as a way to control. I believe voice control is a game changer in the industry. I hope that a lot of companies will start new companies in this field. Then next point I want to talk about as a growth opportunity for entrepreneurs is what I call data mining of data. You need to data mine the data that we are able to get out from connected homes, connected cars, or whatever activity. You need to data mine it in a way that can generate a lot of income for other external companies.
If you don’t data mine well, you don’t understand the life patterns of a consumer. If you don’t do that, how can you bring them additional convenience? For example, your phone is evaluating how you drive to work every day. When you leave, it knows that from Monday to Friday, it knows you take this route. Should you take this route or not? This are things that are convenient for you without being disruptive.
The last thing I would talk about is tracking whatever you want either your car, pets, or personal belongings. I am talking about tracking where you have devices that go into the mobile network. Those devices go from being analog where, before, they were dumb devices and not connected to the network that are now becoming smart.
There are so many use cases you can consider. There are many opportunities in industries globally that entrepreneurs can find their own little niche on acting their differentiation and innovation. Focus on voice recognition and speech as a way of control. Focus on security on these big networks. Focus on data mining architecture on this. I will also focus on finding ways to track assets and make sure that your solution doesn’t just go into the residential market, but build a foundation that can open you up for as many different opportunities.
