Sramana Mitra: How do you go to market? Are people paying for different modules separately or do you have an all-you-can-eat kind of subscription model?

Felix Odigie: It’s a SaaS business model. We have different types of customers. We have enterprise customers, small business customers, and even have individual smaller  business customers who purchase their modules on our e-commerce platform. In other words, you can buy the product by the library where you have access to all of the products and you can deploy it to your employees, or you can just buy specific sets of courses depending on what you’re trying to enforce.

I did mention the other categories that we have like sexual harassment and HIPAA. Security awareness is our biggest because it’s quite prevalent but we have other compliance areas as well. We host the courses on our LMS which makes it easy to deploy to the customer and optimize the user experience.

Sramana Mitra: Who prepares these modules?

Felix Odigie: As you can imagine, the threat vectors change from year to year so have subject matter experts on staff. One of our subject matter experts is an ex-CIA personnel. She ensures that we are meeting all of the necessary technology aspects. We put together the curriculum. It’s an online educational simulated interactive learning as opposed to a video learning.

In a video, someone’s talking and can be very boring. According to the Academy of Research Education, 58% of what you retain is kept within the first day. After that, it just degrades. If it’s interactive and if you’re able to pull in as much of the graphics of what people go through on a daily basis and at the same time, get the technological jargon into regular consumable format that you and I can understand, it sticks. Most of our customers love our product. They keep coming back.

Sramana Mitra: What is the most popular module or topic in your cyber security education offering?

Felix Odigie: It would depend on the customer because our enterprise customers take it very seriously. We have over 50 different courses in there that range from cyber security fundamentals and password complexity to social media education. People misunderstand how they should be on social media. This goes through because the information you give out there lends you to being hacked. Our most popular course, measured by sales, is the Security Awareness Fundamentals. People start with that and then they go on to others where they learn more things.

Sramana Mitra: Let’s talk about what are the trends in cyber security online learning. What are you seeing in the market?

Felix Odigie: Gartner, who’s an agnostic research company,  has put us as a leader in the Magic Quadrant for two years in a row now. We have phishing products. In that area, we have Wombat as a competitor. They have a good product.
