Sramana Mitra: Let’s do a couple more use cases and then I’ll ask you other questions.
Chris Astle: Other use cases would be from an academic perspective. Our software is used extensively by individuals in terms of their own research and development work. We’re looking at areas of pulling information together from multiple sources whether that’s online or whether that’s going into the field and collecting information. Our software is allowing those individuals to pull that information to one place. Our software is also being used for the research work that those institutions are engaging with. Time and time again, we see that the software that we’re using is providing that high-level of value.
Sramana Mitra: In your universe that you are spending your time in, what kinds of open problems are you being alerted to by your customer base or prospect base in the realm of Big Data that is not being solved and that you would recommend a new entrepreneur take that on?
Chris Astle: That’s a good question. From a Big Data perspective, many large organizations are collecting significant amounts of information on a daily basis. You see that information being stored within those organizations. Some of the challenges are, how do you leverage that data for greater insight. How do you bring that data to life? With the advances around machine learning and artificial intelligence, we see that those data sources are another opportunity for organizations to extend the value of machine learning and Big Data systems in new and exciting ways.
Our software is starting to pick up some of those data sources and provide value there in a way that you can connect different views of an individual around a product orientation or a services orientation. You can really start to understand the expressions and some of the feelings and emotions that those individuals may have.
Sramana Mitra: Tell me a little bit about your company. You’re based in Australia?
Chris Astle: Yes, we are. We’re a market leader. We see ourselves as the leader in the space of human data analysis side. We’re based in four regions around the world. We have our own development practice here in Australia. We have grown from the university years ago to being an innovator in the way that we are looking at new information sources.
Sramana Mitra: How long have you been around?
Chris Astle: We’re 30 years young.
Sramana Mitra: Great. Thank you for your time.
