As automation devastates the fundamental economic model of the human civilization, we are faced with the option of augmenting the human brain such that ALL unskilled, low-IQ humans become upgraded.
I wrote on this topic last year: Man and Superman: Can Displaced Blue Collar Workers Become Doctors?
Since then, Elon Musk has made public statements about Neuralink, his venture to connect the human brain to computers.
In China, He Jiankui, a Chinese researcher, has gene edited a pair of twin girls last November.
All this has far-ranging consequences.
If we can, indeed, thus eliminate all genetically transmitted diseases, the global healthcare costs are going to plummet.
If we can, indeed, by implanting a nano chip, turn all unemployed truck drivers into highly skilled medical professionals, the state of global healthcare will dramatically improve.
What then is the future of healthcare?
What then is the future of education? We no longer need to go to university to study Computer Science. Or Biology. Or Business. An implant will achieve the same effect in a few hours.
What then is the future of economics? The need to employ low-skilled workers goes away. Everyone is a genius. Running an economy of 10 billion geniuses is a very different problem than one in which the vast majority of people are uneducated, unskilled, unviable.
What then is the future of politics? Can finally, meaningful democracies govern the world?
Let us discuss.
