Sramana Mitra: Fantastic. In all the different use cases that you have applied Findability, what are some of the most powerful use cases that warrant productization as solutions?

Anand Mahurkar: Post-pandemic, we are seeing self-reliance on multiple business processes. One is the supply chain because of the disruption in the market by the pandemic. We have built an AI best practice framework called CUPP – Collection, Unification, Processing, and Presentation. Unfortunately, all the AI companies just focus on the processing part. The collection and unification of the data are very powerful.

In supply chain, for example, most of your lens is on external things. Let’s take weather or geo-economic conditions. We built this supply chain resiliency model which is now repeatable and a robust use case for every manufacturer to deploy in the world. This is going to help them manage their view into the future. It is what will happen and what to do. We solve only two simple questions. The supply chain is a powerful use case.

Sramana Mitra: You’re selling into the transportation sector.

Anand Mahurkar: Manufacturing. Manufacturing’s procurement departments are a nightmare.

Sramana Mitra: I’m glad I’m not running an auto company right now.

Anand Mahurkar: They need that visibility and need that view into the future in terms of what will happen and what to do.

Sramana Mitra: Since you’re a follower of my blog, are you reading my PaaS coverage?

Anand Mahurkar: Yes.

Sramana Mitra: What is your plan? It sounds like you have a product that can do a lot of use cases. You are getting great traction with these supply chain use cases in manufacturing. You could also open up the platform to developers to build on top of it.

Anand Mahurkar: That is one business model. I was appointed by IBM Watson as an advisor for three years. I have seen that journey. There are successes and failures. I didn’t take that route. At least for the near future, we do not have that plan. There are two big learnings in the market. One is that traditional enterprises are fearful of sharing their data. They would like to have their own secure environment.

Where we took the stack towards is we can deploy it in the customer data center. We are cloud-agnostic. There are lots of platforms and they are taking that focus. There are 60,000 traditional enterprises with more than $200 million in revenues. They are uncatered because they really can’t use PaaS. They can’t use developers developing on top of it. They don’t want to share their data outside. They need help from data collection, to unification, and processing to present data to their users.

Sramana Mitra: You started as a solo entrepreneur. Talk about the team-building journey of the company.

Anand Mahurkar: I got them through the network. I tell people my idea and they come to join me. We have a powerful management team who are very experienced. They took up one function at a time. I kept on building more through networking. I never went through a recruitment process.
