Bootstrapping Using Services from Pune: Mindbowser CEO Ayush Jain (Part 6)

Sramana Mitra: Can you give me an example of a Lego block that AI has enhanced? What was the Lego block and what did AI do to enhance that Lego block?

Ayush Jain: Today, AI is everywhere, and of course, customers want to apply it to almost everything. But stepping back to the concept of Lego blocks, we initially started with replicable recipes around integrations. For example, we’ve created FHIR-enabled services that allow systems to integrate with each other and enable data exchange.

One of healthcare’s biggest challenges has always been systems and data not communicating effectively. We developed solutions, particularly for newly created digital health companies, to help them connect with point-of-care systems or gather better data. Because even for health AI companies, if they don’t have quality data, their algorithms can’t deliver good results.

We’ve been enabling that through our accelerators. On the development side, we’ve integrated AI into various aspects like automating code deployment, CI/CD pipelines, and code quality checks. In 2018, we launched a product called CodeGrip that focuses on code quality, and it has gained new momentum with AI. It checks code quality for any commit made by a developer, solving a critical problem.

Sramana Mitra: AI applications are more in software operations.

Ayush Jain: Yes, in healthcare as well. These foundational pieces are crucial for us. Once we’ve built them, we can then focus on areas like data extraction or data validation. We’ve developed these ‘recipes,’ as you mentioned, similar to how AI companies offer services. That’s how we position ourselves too—these recipes are the solutions we use to tackle different problems for our customers. That’s the approach we take.

Sramana Mitra: That’s right. You’re working in a product engineering mode. You work for product companies developing their products, right? You work for software companies, not enterprise IT or anything.

Ayush Jain: Right. We work for product companies, helping them throughout these journeys. We’re in the universe of healthcare today.

Sramana Mitra: Interesting. Now, how many people now?

Ayush Jain: So we are now over 200 people.

Sramana Mitra: Ayush, what is your experience with no code and GitHub, Copilot, and these kinds of things? Are you seeing real productivity gains applying these kinds of technologies that are coming up in the age of AI?

Ayush Jain: Right. Our teams are definitely using Copilot, no doubt. There are just so many tools out there, and every day it feels like a new one pops up marketed with endless possibilities. Sometimes you have to cut through all that noise. So, yes, we definitely use Copilot for development, but we’re not adopting every tool under the sun. We stick to what works and customize it for our needs.

We’re also building our own tools by combining different resources to make them work specifically for us. And on the marketing side, which is my department, I’m pretty amazed by what AI can do. We’re using OpenAI and Gemini to automate sales and marketing functions. Today, we’re publishing a new webpage almost daily, complete with SEO and quality checks—no risk of Google penalties or plagiarism.

Sramana Mitra: Is that generating leads for you?

Ayush Jain: Yes, these pages are now ranking. The idea is that the more shots you take at SEO, the better your results. In the past, if we needed a hundred pages for SEO, it would take my team a week, and they might only manage to create ten. It just wasn’t feasible. But today, I can tell my team to create those hundred pages, allowing us to target every keyword we want to cover.

Sramana Mitra: Very good. Well, I got your story. Congratulations and we will look forward to covering it.
