Sramana Mitra: What is your solution suite? Do you have a platform, and then you deliver applications on top of that? How do you bring your product to market?
Tom Hogan: That’s a great question. We have three paths. I’m going to share the three with you in the reverse order of a conversation I might have with a prospect or a potential client. First is, the history of the company was to assemble the broadest and the best SDLC that’s concentrated on mobile. That really has four blocks, if you will, that you can think of in chronological sequence.
Block A is to help you rapidly design the best system of engagement possible in the market. Now that you’ve designed it, you’ve got to build it using Block B. You want to not only build with that rich experience but also abstract the complexity that all these edge devices, operating systems, and Internet of Things bring.
Now that you have built it, the third block is for integrating it and leveraging what really distinguishes mobile first, which would be things like location-based services and context-awareness linked into multiple systems of records. This is not just mobilizing as an example of back-end SAP or Salesforce system of record but to connect with multiple data sources so that the whole set of back end mobile services really brings that front-end user experience and UI to life. The fourth block is for managing the app once it’s been deployed. Those are the four major building blocks of our SDLC.
There are two other routes to market that have surfaced. We are now building a mobile app marketplace. Think of Kony’s marketplace as what Salesforce did, three or four years ago, with Force.com in the web app space. We’re providing that marketplace to rapidly build and monetize mobile applications.
The last path is some customers want the marketplace, some want the SDLC because they just want the broad toolset to go build the app; but there are some number of customers who would prefer to just buy and consume a finished app. Kony is also building custom and packaged apps that we’ll take directly to market. Those are the three routes to market.
