Sramana Mitra: Let me actually double-click down. Our audience is very sophisticated. We’ve covered Palo Alto Networks for a long time and very intensely. We’ve covered FireEye for a long time. Let’s try to put it all in some sort of an ecosystem map. In your worldview, where does FireEye sit? Where does Palo Alto sit vis-a-vis CipherCloud?

Pravin Kothari: Definitely. I was just coming down to that. There is a need for security in endpoint like mobile devices, desktops, and servers. There is a need for security in the network. There is a need for security in the enterprise like Symantec. There is also a need for security in the cloud. The whole IT infrastructure is shifting towards cloud. Right now, I would say the tipping point is going to happen in a couple of years where more applications are going to be deployed in cloud than on premise. There is an increasing need for building security for the cloud. This is an area that CipherCloud focuses on – cloud security.

Sramana Mitra: Do one more level of double-click down into that. Within cloud security, what specifically are you protecting? Are you protecting an enterprise in its interface with all the different public cloud offerings that enterprise are accessing? Are you dealing with private cloud scenarios? What exactly is the cloud security angle?

Pravin Kothari: We believe in bringing cloud visibility and control to the enterprise. Our message is, “Discover, Protect, and Monitor.” Discover focuses on bringing the visibility in cloud usage in the company like unsanctioned clouds. Protection is all about making sure that all the data that’s going to the enterprise is fully protected and remains under your control. The third area is monitoring. Since CipherCloud has access to all the traffic and user behavior happening in the cloud, we have machine learning to help our customers identify threats hidden in the cloud. So, we do discover, protection, and monitoring of cloud applications and security around them.

Sramana Mitra: Is that true about public and private cloud applications?

Pravin Kothari: We focus on public cloud. A majority of them are SaaS applications. There’s not much on infrastructure right now. Public cloud is a requirement for us.
