Sai Gundavelli: We also did two killer partnerships. One is with a company called Kronos and the other one is with EDT. We made them put OEM on our products. They also had a lot of data that they needed to archive. They’re implementing our product in all their customers. We’re getting all the seeding with this strategic alliance. That’s 6,000 enterprise customers all around the world.
Sramana Mitra: Terrific.
Sai Gundavelli: Then, Big Data really gave us a huge differentiation. Big Data should be part of your enterprise blueprint. The traditional hardware is not going to school. You need Big Data. We position enterprise archiving on Big Data and that gave us a tremendous strategic advantage. We are the only player among all the competition to offer that. Even Informatica, IBM, and HP are struggling to innovate. They can’t act as fast as we can. These two things really helped us.
Sramana Mitra: This is what I’m looking for – the real product positioning angle to see the differentiation. Do you just do archiving or their retrieval capabilities as well?
Sai Gundavelli: We do archiving. We do access. We can access the data online. We also do test data management. We also retire the data. The application is retired but you still have access to the data. For the Big Data platform, we are actually reinventing. We are not just providing archiving. If I’m able to move data, why can’t I copy the new data? If I’ve old data in the Big Data platform and I copy, all of a sudden, I’ve both the active and inactive data in the Big Data platform. That enables the analytics. I’m positioning Big Data as, “You can pay money by archiving. Number two is this has the active data. You can do analytics and you can take the analytics platform to the next level.”
Sramana Mitra: You said you were doing unstructured data. My question really was the nuance of retrieving unstructured data. What are the nuances of that particular capability?
Sai Gundavelli: You can do a Google search, as simple as that. You can search any document. We can also provide a virtual printer. If you want to print the month-end report, you have a Solix printer. We are providing how to capture the data into the Big Data suite and we’re also providing technology on how to augment the data. We’re also enabling analytics. We are providing access, storage, and query.
